The Association offers a slate of benefits to our members that include cooperative marketing programs and other negotiated vendor discount agreements. Some of the active benefit programs are listed below, or see up-to-date information in Member Resources.
Cooperative Advertising Program
The Association continues its Cooperative Advertising Program; offering discounted advertising rates in 15 publications to AUPresses members. In April and September 2020, member presses participated in cooperative advertisements that appeared in the Nation. In addition to theNation’s fall and spring discount, AUPresses members also received discounted advertising in Harper’s Magazine, the New York Times Book Review, and our newest partner, a digital marketing agency, SST Media. Publications participating in the cooperative program are:
The American Scholar
Issues in Science and Technology
New Left Review
The New York Times Book Review
Science News Magazine
SST Media Group
Cooperative International Exhibits
The Association offers exhibiting opportunities, often in partnership with international book trade fairs. While the international exhibits program has paused for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, AUPresses looks forward to returning to these international book fairs in 2022.
AUPresses has offered discounted exhibit space for members at the Feria International del Libro Universitario (FILUNI) since its inaugural edition in 2017. Held Mexico City in August or September, FILUNI is the first international university press book fair hosted in Latin America, drawing university press publishers from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, USA, Spain, Peru, and Mexico. The fair is organized by the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) through its press.
London Book Fair
AUPresses has enjoyed a long partnership with Reed Exhibitions, offering discounted exhibit space within an AUPresses branded pavilion at the London Book Fair. Held at Olympia, London, in March or April, the London Book Fair gathers publishers from across the globe. Reed offers the exhibiting packages, plans the space, and handles all reservations and billing for booth participants while AUPresses provides staff for organizational support leading up to and during the fair.
The Clipping Service Program enables participating presses to track their publicity efforts at a reduced cost via BurrellesLuce (the US leader in media monitoring). BurrellesLuce sends digital clips for 8 participating member presses to the central office, where they are sorted and distributed via email.
Member Discount Programs
Members are eligible for a discounted subscription to the NetGalley digital galley service. NetGalley offers the real-time transmission of digital galleys and multimedia press kits.
