WEBSITE and COMMONS
The Association’s website was relaunched with a new look and features, responsive design, and streamlined navigation in the summer of 2020. AUPresses.org is now an entirely public-facing site, showcasing our members and the value and values of university presses. Some highlights of the new site include our mission statement translated into nearly 30 languages, a new “Resources” index to help users locate both open and member-restricted materials, and an expanded library of career resources at the new Jobs List.
Member resources, including the ability to post job listings, have been migrated to sites within the UP Commons space—a shift that allows members to maintain a single log-in identity for AUPresses community collaborations, members-only resources, and restricted benefits, as well as across their professional identity in any disciplinary space within the Humanities Commons network.
The site hosting capacity of UP Commons has allowed the Association to publish a number of free-standing public sites there as well. These include committee-developed sites for the Book, Jacket, and Journal Show and the new Ask UP author education resource, as well as the online edition of the Best Practices for Peer Review Handbook and the Covid-19 response site.
AUPRESSES BULLETIN
A monthly newsletter providing updates on Association programs, activities, and news from the membership, along with a slate of recommended reads from industry publications. The bulletin is distributed via email to subscribed staff at member presses.
MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY
The 2021 AUPresses Membership Directory was published in January in both print and digital formats. The Directory contains contact information for key staff at member presses and partner companies, information on press publishing programs, and guidelines for manuscript submissions. The University of Chicago Press continues to distribute the Directory, and production of the print edition of the Directory was donated by Sheridan. Association members receive a discount on the Directory, and the Association may extend discount codes at publishing seminars and academic conferences.
